The majority of people I have talked with that have a chronic illness are also dealing with unwanted weight gain. It’s a common side effect of the medications. I gained over 100lbs.
Not only does the extra weight affect self-esteem. It also puts added pressure on your joints. As someone who lives with Fibromyalgia, I know that this only adds to the pain I live with each day.
Recently I went to see my Physician for a possible high blood pressure issue, I had tested high on a few tests. Thankfully that isn’t an issue for me. It did however truly worry me.
I asked her what changes I could make in addition to the ones I already had. She recommended I try the DASH diet for the next month.
This eating plan was originally created for high blood pressure patients and is based on a vegetarian diet. I’ve been on it for one week now and have lost 5lbs. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Exercise is an important part of this plan. Moving for 30 minutes a day is recommended. I hate to admit that I have to work up to that, as of right now I’m doing shorter amounts of time throughout the day.
If you follow me on Facebook, you know I injured my knee recently so now my exercising has gone down even more until it heals.
I hope this will help you! Hugs!
