Sleep

Living with Chronic Illness sleep becomes elusive. It seems everyone I talk with that has Psoriatic Arthritis, RA, Fibro, etc has this same challenge.  Over the years I’ve learned different methods to aid sleep not that I don’t still have nights that it is impossible to achieve but these have helped me a great deal.

~ Develop a sleep routine. Turn off all electronics at least 30 minutes before you want to sleep.

~ A warm bath. This helps your muscles relax. I add lavender and baby oil to mine. Softer skin and the lavender is relaxing as well.

~ Read. Choosing something calm. I can get so intrigued in what I’m reading I stay up all night. So now am much more selective about my bedtime reading.

~ Warm milk. The tryptophan in milk helps to make you sleepy.

~ Meditate. Breathe in through your nose. Breathe in that wonderful stuff of life.

Exhale through your mouth. Focus on what your thankful for this day.

~ Pray. Thank the Lord for the blessing of the day.

~ If your pets sleep with you gently stroke them and let their sounds lull you to sleep.

Hope this helps! Hugs!
